CHICAGO — A Chicago choir teacher returns to the classroom after battling a life-threatening disease, and gets a surprise welcome that brought tears to her eyes.

American Idol finalist Peter Frank surprised his old teacher with an elaborate rendition of “Amazing Grace” at the Morgan Park High School.

Choir Director Gabrielyn Watson was so overcome with emotion, it left both her and Frank in tears.

She’s been an inspirational force in the school for nearly two decades and she just recently returned to school after battling multiple myeloma.
