Rauner wants unfunded mandate relief for schools

CHICAGO -- Gov. Bruce Rauner is looking at another way to ease Illinois' budget crisis.

Rauner and four state lawmakers have proposed relaxing unfunded mandates on the state's public schools.

The bills would give schools more ability to decide how to handle physical education, drivers ed and contracts that don't affect teachers.
