Chicago pizzeria facing lawsuit by Red Hot Chili Peppers over karaoke night
CHICAGO — A pizza restaurant in Wicker Park is being sued over its karaoke night.
‘Piece’ is being sued by BMI, Sony, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Rivers Cuomo of Weezer.
The copyright infringement lawsuit, filed Wednesday, names ‘Piece’ Pizza and its owner, Bill Jacobs, according to the Sun-Times.
The restaurant advertises live karaoke on its website. Customers can choose songs and sing in front of a live band.
The lawsuit claims the restaurant has been contacted dozens of times and sent several cease and desist letters.
The owner has not responded to the lawsuit.
