Tips:

Get on a regular exercise plan. Even walking 30-45 minutes daily can be helpful.

Besides regular exercise, don’t sit at your desk all day or plant yourself in front of the TV for hours. Studies show that such sedentary people are at significantly higher risk for heart disease.

Eat more fruits and vegetables and stay away from processed foods.

Get the appropriate amount of sleep, for most people between 7-8 hours a night. Too little sleep and even too much sleep can be unhealthy.

Get your cholesterol checked and talk to your doctor about any risk factors including your family history.
