CHICAGO -- The funeral service for the six members of a family killed inside their Gage Park home was held Sunday.

A wake and visitation for the Martinez family was held Saturday in Lawndale.

Extra security was on hand outside the funeral home and officers plan to be present for Sunday's funeral.

A crisis counselor who is in contact with the surviving family members says they are grieving and very scared.

It’s been more than a week since police conducting a well-being check discovered the grisly scene inside the family’s bungalow at 57th and California Avenue in Gage Park.  Police said this week three "bladed weapons" were used in the killing.

Police have said the family was targeted. There was no forced entry at the home.  All of the doors were locked when police officers arrived.

Whoever’s responsible is still at large.

Bodies will be sent to Mexico next week for burial.
