AMSTERDAM, Netherlands — There were dramatic moments for a mother and child in Amsterdam as their car got into a canal and began sinking.

Four people dived in to the icy waters to help but when they couldn’t break the back window with a stone, local media reports one of the rescuers rushes to his car to get a hammer.
