CHICAGO – A lawsuit filed by the Chicago police officer who shot and killed a 19-year-old college student brought angry reactions from the boy’s family.

Officer Robert Rialmo’s civil suit claims Quintonio Legrier forced the shooting after he repeatedly swung a baseball bat at him.

He says the shooting last December caused him “extreme emotional trauma”.

Legrier’s family has already filed a wrongful-death lawsuit.

Their lawyer calls the officer’s lawsuit “a new low for the Chicago Police Department”.
