5 new gates planned at O’Hare

CHICAGO — Days after announcing a deal for a new runway, mayor emanuel revealed plans to add five new gates at o’hare airport.

A statement from the mayor’s office calls it the first such expansion since 1993, when Terminal 5 was built.

American Airlines has agreed to pay for new gates in Terminal 3.

The city says the gates will help ease congestion and improve on-time performance.

Frequent fliers say they’re looking forward to the additions.

American Airlines estimates the new gates will be ready by 2018.
