CHICAGO -- Tribune editorial board wasted no time in getting to questions about Laquan Mcdonald, which took up much of the endorsement session.

Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez stands by her handling of the shooting death of Laquan Mcdonald by Chicago police officer Jason van Dyke, besides taking 400 days to conduct the investigation and announcing murder charges the day before the video seen round the world was released.

The case has become the primary topic of this year's state's attorney election.
