5-year-old calls 911 to report parents shot; both dead

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Authorities say a 5-year-old boy called police in Chattanooga to report that his parents had been shot, and both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Chattanooga Police Department said in a statement that the boy called 911 at 10:32 p.m. Sunday. Police says officers found 24-year-old George Dillard and 25-year-old Lakita Hicks, who were both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the child was unharmed and is living with relatives.

Investigators say the shooting was gang-related.

The police statement calls the incident a double homicide but gives no further details.
