QUINCY, Ill. — A man was sent to the hospital after a report of shots fired in a Quincy neighborhood early Friday morning.

Devon Hawkins was the victim in a shooting that happened just after midnight on Friday in the 800 block of Chestnut Street in Quincy. He was shot in the chest and sent to the hospital but released quickly after.

KHQA reporter Reyna Harvey was on the scene reporting on the incident and had a chance to speak to the victim. Hawkins says he was enjoying his evening in the comfort of his own home when shots were fired through the back window of the house.

The interview happened just a few hours after the victim was shot and was aired live during KHQA’s morning news.
