LONDON -- The pilot of a British Airways jet bound for Chicago is being hailed as a hero after the plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport.

The jet already took off and about two hours into the flight a problem with the wheels was detected.

It turned around and went back to London. The pilot safely grounded the plane after two of its five sets of wheels malfunctioned.

Passengers had to exit the plane at the rear first, or the plane could have tipped. Those on board said the experience was scary, and praised the pilot for his calm response.
