CPS demands $10M from disgraced former CEO
CHICAGO — The Chicago Public School system is demanding that its disgraced former CEO repay it $10 million.
Barbara Byrd-Bennett pleaded guilty to taking kickbacks to steer school contracts to her former employer, the Supes Academy.
The Sun-Times reports, her successor, Forrest Claypool, will use a state law to try to force Byrd-Bennett to return triple the total of her combined salary in Chicago plus all of the kickbacks she was promised.
There’s been no comment from Byrd-Bennett’s lawyers; and so far, she hasn’t offered any cash settlement.
