CHICAGO —  The man who anchored the first half-hour Chicago TV newscast, which was here at WGN, has died.

Jim Conway passed away late last week at the age of 95.

Conway’s career started in the late 1930s in Milwaukee radio. He moved to Chicago in the early ‘40s, broadcasting details of the attack on Pearl Harbor for WBBM radio.

He would later move to television, hosting shows for WBBM, WLS and here at WGN.

Services for Conway will be private.
