CHICAGO -- They don’t have the biggest classroom on the planet. But they are getting the opportunity of their lives: a dozen students from South Side Occupational Academy learning -- and then doing -- in a first of its kind partnership with Navy Pier.

Five days a week special needs students are studying and putting into practice real life skills alongside other pier employees.

For the last four months, students have done janitorial work, worked in food services and guest services, focusing on working with a group and alone.
