CHICAGO — Chicago Public Schools CEO Forrest Claypool has hired two old friends to help him sort out who to lay off.

Carol Rubin worked with Claypool at the CTA and Chicago Park District; she’ll look for areas of administrative overlap.

Carol Csontos also worked with Claypool at the CTA and in the park district; she’ll work in human resources.

270 CPS central office workers were laid off Friday as part of the school system’s effort to balance its budget.
