WANTAGE, N.J. – We’ve got an update about that cow who was out on the lam in New York this week.

If you remember, the cow had broken loose from a meat truck on his way to the slaughterhouse.

He was captured, and just hours away from meeting his fate, a call came in.  Not from the governor, but from a New Jersey animal sanctuary.

A worker from the sanctuary then drove to the slaughterhouse and slept outside all night to persuade the owners to free the cow.

The cow has been named “Freddie”, since he escaped from Queens.

He’ll be visited in greener pastures by students on educational tours.
