MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Jeans have become a staple of modern day wear but in Minneapolis, they’ve become art, frozen art.

Frozen jeans started out as a prank to make light of the chilly temps but it has seemingly become a “thing.”

Tom Grotting, 61, started the trend a few years ago when he took wet jeans and molded them to stand on their own.

He then challenged others to construct their own jean sculptures and low and behold, the unlikely art movement began to take shape.

Grotting also set up the icy installations near his video business in downtown Minneapolis watching people’s reactions.

The trend has morphed to other clothing including: bathing suits, dresses and pajamas.
