19-year-old man struck, killed by vehicle on Edens Expressway

CHICAGO -- A pedestrian was killed overnight on the Edens Expressway after his car ran out of gas.

It happened just before 1 a.m. Wednesday in the northbound lanes near Skokie Road in Wilmette.

State police say the 19-year-old man was in a car that pulled over on the left shoulder after it ran out of gas.

The man tried to run across three lanes of the Edens when he was struck.

The driver who hit him is not expected to be cited.

There were other people in the stalled car, but they were not hurt.
