CHICAGO — Navy Pier is closing for two days next week to install its new Ferris wheel.

The old ride came down in September.

All the pieces for the new Ferris wheel are arriving this week from Europe by boat, train and truck.

Much of the larger pieces will be installed when the pier is closed next Tuesday and Wednesday.

It’s the first major step in Navy Pier’s planned redevelopment.

Officials hope the new ride will be ready in time for Navy Pier’s 100th anniversary this summer.
