Mexico confirms that it will extradite ‘El Chapo’ to US

MEXICO CITY –The Mexican attorney general’s office said Saturday that the Mexican government will proceed with the extradition of drug kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman to the United States.

A statement from the attorney general’s office explained that the Mexican government will proceed with an extradition request filed by the United States last summer.

Guzman, who escaped from prison in Mexico in July, was recaptured Friday by special forces from the Mexican navy.
