Lane Tech High School evacuated after bomb threat

CHICAGO -- Classes will be held at Lane Tech High School Friday after the school was evacuated due to a bomb threat Thursday night.

The school received the bomb threat earlier Thursday. Police were on scene at the school, located at at 2501 W. Addison St., for a time Thursday night.

A Chicago Public Schools spokesman issued the following statement about the incident:

"CPS is thankful for the quick response from law enforcement following a bomb threat earlier this evening at Lane Tech College Prep. Law enforcement officials conducted a thorough sweep of the building and determined it is safe to occupy. The safety of our schools is our top priority, and we will continue to work with law enforcement on the ongoing investigation."
