Woman mistaken for intruder, killed by mother

ST. CLOUD, Fla. — A Florida woman who thought an intruder was in her home Tuesday night shot and killed the person who turned out to be her own daughter.

Police say the woman was asleep just before midnight Tuesday when she heard someone in her home who began to approach her, police said.

The woman fired one shot, striking her 27-year-old daughter, who later died from her injuries at Osceola Regional Hospital.

A Florida television station reported that the mother is a dispatcher at a law enforcement agency.

Police are considering the shooting accidental.
