Verizon Wireless and Sprint secretly billed millions of cellphone customers for text-messaging services they didn’t order; they included horoscopes and sports scores.

The practice is called “cramming,” and it’s illegal.

The FCC ordered the companies to refund the illegal overcharges as part of a class-action settlement; but today is the deadline for you to claim your share.
