2 rescued from house fire in Back of the Yards

CHICAGO -- Chicago firefighters pulled a mother and her disabled daughter from a home in the city's Back of the Yards neighborhood Thursday afternoon.

The home caught fire around 1:45 p.m.

The mother went upstairs to try to get her disabled daughter out of the house.

While she was putting on the girl's coat, she began to feel weak from the smoke inside.

Firefighters then showed up and pulled both to safety.

The owner says the home is a total loss.

One firefighters was slightly hurt responding to the flames.

No word yet on what caused the fire.
