CHICAGO – The flame has run out for the Redmoon Theater, producer of the Great Chicago Fire Festival.

The company is broke. It blames high rent at its Pilsen location, as well as funding issues related to the fire festival.

The festival never caught on with Chicagoans and cost a ton of money to put together: this year’s event cost more than $1 million.

The city decided to stop providing financial aid.
