ROCKAWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Boy Scout leader took some of his boys into a cave in Rockaway Township, New Jersey.

What he didn’t know is that the cave wasn’t empty; a black bear lives there, and it attacked him.

Christopher Petronimo was pulled inside the cave; his leg was bitten, and he suffered serious injuries to his head, arm and shoulder.

His scouts called 911 right away, but rescuers had to wait more than an hour for the scouts to lure the bear away from their leader with some food.

Petronimo was pulled out and airlifted to a local hospital; he has already been treated and sent home
