CHICAGO – Before it started raining, it really was the perfect day in Chicago: temperatures in the 60s. Just bizarre. You have Christmas lights up everywhere ... and people jogging in shorts. Weird.

It was a great day to be on the water; river cruises and tours were packed.

Some people preferred a nice stroll along the lake. They left coats, scarfs, gloves and hats all those usual things we sport in December at home. This was more sweater weather.

Along the lake, WGN found people sitting in their thoughts – and folks enjoying a nice jog.

It was also the perfect day to finish up holiday shopping. At times the Magnificent Mile was crowded, people walking with their shopping bags.

WGN found a number of folks in the city this weekend on vacation. Some people came in from the South and places that are usually much warmer than Chicago. Nobody can believe it's mid-December and this warm.
