NEENAH, Wis.— One man is dead and another man is in custody after a shooting and standoff at a motorcycle shop in Wisconsin.
WITI-TV reports police were dispatched to a hostage situation at Eagle Nation Cycle in Neenah, Wis. just before 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
The attorney for the owner of Eagle Nation Cycle says it started after a man who had sold his motorcycle to someone else decided he wanted it back. The motorcycle was being worked on at the shop.
Police say around 9:30 a.m. they received specific information that hostages were in immediate danger of being killed.
When officers entered, they encountered gunfire.
One officer was hit in the helmet. He was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released.
During the incident, a man walked out of the facility with a gun and refused commands to drop it.
Officers shot the man. He was taken to the hospital where he died.
After hours of negotiations, the original hostage taker agreed to exit. He is in custody.
Police say an investigation is underway to determine what led to the hostage situation.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice's Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the officer-involved shooting.
