10-year-old boy killed; 2 others injured in crash

CHICAGO – A 10-year-old boy was killed and two other people were injured in a crash on Chicago’s Southwest Side early Saturday morning.

Chicago Police say a 32-year-old man was driving a white mini-van in the 3600 block of West  Marquette Road at 4:10am. A 13-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy were riding in the van, when it hit a viaduct support beam.  Witnesses who live near the crash site performed CPR on the boy before emergency crews arrived.

All three people were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center for treatment.

The boy was pronounced dead.

The man was in serious condition and the girl’s condition was stabilized.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.  The boy’s name has not been released.
