HOFFMAN ESTATE, Ill. -- Should a transgender student be allowed to use the girls' locker room? That is the question facing a northwest suburban school district.

Parents packed a special school board meeting for Township High School District 211 at Conant High School in Hoffman Estates, Wednesday night, weighing in on the issue.

The school board is facing a deadline to approve a compromise plan after the Department of Education ruled the district violated the Title IX anti-discrimination law by requiring the student to use a private area to change clothes.
