CHICAGO — Following the firing of Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy, WGN has gotten reactions from activists, politicians and normal Chicagoans. Now, for the first time, we’re hearing what some Chicago police officers thought about it.

The local blog Crime in Wrigleyville and Boystown posted a short clip of what it claims is radio chatter from police officers when the new broke.

If you’re having trouble hearing the clip, here’s what is said:

“Uhhh, did they just fire the superintendent?”
“Yes, they did.”
“Whaaaat?”
“But, but, but the mayor’s got his back.”
“When they gonna fire the mayor?”

On Wednesday, protesters said firing McCarthy wasn’t enough. They also demanded Mayor Emanuel and State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez be held accountable for the Laquan McDonald controversy.
