CHICAGO — Leaders in the Chicago Police Department will take action to fire officer Dante Servin.

The move comes after an independent police review authority recommended the action.

Servin is the officer who fired shots into a crowd of people while off duty in 2012, killing Rekia Boyd.

A judge acquitted him of involuntary manslaughter, saying he was charged with the wrong crime.
