CHICAGO — A mother in Uptown is charged with the murder of her newborn daughter.

Police say Mubashra Uddin, 19, dropped her daughter from an eighth-floor window on Wednesday night.

The baby was found lying on the grass outside in the 800 block of W. Eastwood and taken to Weiss Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead.

She suffered blunt-force trauma and her death was ruled a homicide.

Uddin was due to appear in court today, but police tell WGN she is in the hospital and will not be in court.
