CAPE TOWN, South Africa — A cool cloud formation over South Africa had folks around the globe buzzing.

Monique Jackson shot this image in Cape Town Sunday.

She described the clouds as being “UFO-like”.

But they have nothing to do with space aliens.

They’re actually a weather phenomenon called “lenticular clouds”.

They form when air flowing along the surface of the earth reaches an obstruction like a mountain or valley, but only if temperatures and air moisture are just right.

Several reports of UFO sightings throughout history have been linked to the disk-like clouds.
