CHICAGO — Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium is honoring veterans this year with a special deal on Veterans Day.

Shedd says it will be offering free admission to vets on Wednesday, Nov. 11.

Veterans may show their “proper ID” and receive a free pass. The deal includes admission to the venue’s Caribbean Reef, Waters of the World, Amazon Rising, Wild Reef, Abbott Oceanarium and Polar Play Zone sections, the aquarium said.

“Shedd, a military-friendly employer, wishes to express gratitude and support for the men and women of our armed forces who are actively engaged in protecting our country as well as the countless who served to secure our freedom,” the aquarium said in a statement.

Shedd has also designed a new tribute garden on its north lawn facing Lake Michigan, in which volunteers planted 30,000 spring blooming bulbs in shades of yellow, gold and white top honor service men, women and Gold Star mothers.

More flowers will be planted in spring.
