CHICAGO — A wise man named Forrest Gump once said, “Life is like a box of chocolates” but since today is National Chocolate Day, let’s go ahead and say chocolate IS life.

In appreciation of this delicious holiday, what better way to celebrate than by cooking up some chocolate inspired recipes from your very own kitchen?

Amy Guitard gave WGN an awesome recipe for pumpkin chocolate chip cookies that is sure to be a hit this Halloween weekend.

Not a fan of pumpkin? Grandbaby Cakes author Jocelyn Delk Adams has the perfect recipe for neapolitan cakelettes.

Looking for a tried and true topping for your ice cream? Check out Bryan Petroff’s Awesomesauce.

No matter how you choose to indulge, we hope you treat yourselves and enjoy the excuse to eat as much candy as you want – even if it’s not Halloween just yet!
