CHICAGO — The Chicago School Board will be asked Wednesday to approve the creation of two new charter schools — one on the Southwest Side, the other in West Garfield Park.

The board will also be asked to put ten existing charter schools on probation because of poor academic performance.

Four of those schools could be closed next June, the other six a year later, unless their performance improves.
