CHICAGO -- An 89-year-old woman was found stabbed to death inside her burning home in Washington Park early today.

Emergency crews responded to the fire in the 5100 block of South Michigan Avenue around 2:50 a.m. Monday.

Her body was discovered by fire crews during their search of the first floor.

A man was pulled from the third floor of the building, suffering from smoke inhalation.  He was taken to a hospital in good condition.

Investigators believe the fire was deliberately set to cover up the elderly woman's murder.

The fire damage is minor and the investigation has been turned over to the Chicago Police Department.
