3 Illinois suburbs ranked among best in America
A new report from Business Insider ranks the 50 best suburbs in America. Three Chicago suburbs made the list.
The report took data from over 2,700 municipalities around the country, considering suburbs with populations between 5,000 and 100,000. The suburbs had to be within 40 kilometers of the nearest metropolitan area.
Business Insider said it used average commute times, median household income, poverty and crime rates, public school ratings from GreatSchools.org and a measure of housing affordability to create the list.
Winnetka came in at number 40, as the richest town in Illinois and the second richest in the U.S. The median household income is $200,000.
Deerfield is 38th on the list, commended for its daily transportation to Chicago. The town has virtually no crime, and GreatSchools gave Deerfield schools a perfect ten.
Hinsdale is ranked the highest for Illinois, coming it at number 28. Hinsdale is credited with having beautiful homes and renowned schools. It ranked highest for express transportation to downtown Chicago.
Overall, Business Insider said the list is dominated by Midwest suburbs.
