OMAHA, NE — A woman in Nebraska says a police officer tried to shame her for breastfeeding her 4-month-old son.

It happened during a public meeting Wednesday in Omaha. The female officer threatened to cite Rosalyn Mizzell for indecent exposure if she refused to cover up.

She refused, but she wasn’t cited.

Apparently, the officer was unaware that Nebraska law allows a woman to breastfeed her child anywhere that a woman is allowed in public.

The officer apologized, but said Mizzell would have done better to breastfeed her child in private.

Mizzell plans to file a complaint against the officer.
