CHICAGO -- Cook County Democratic leaders voted to take away their endorsement of embattled Circuit Court Clerk Dorothy Brown.
Brown is under federal investigation over the sale of a building in North Lawndale by a longtime campaign donor. The parcel was given to Brown's husband at no cost and later sold at a profit for $100,000.
8th Ward Alderman, Michelle Harris, accepted the Democratic endorsement to be the county's next circuit court clerk.
Brown was seeking a fifth term. She says she did nothing wrong. Brown alleges that the party's decision to withdraw their support for her is a breach of contract.
Top party officials say they were within their rights to yank Brown's endorsement and are urging her not to run against Michelle Harris.
