Teen killed, another injured in shooting on South Side

CHICAGO -- Two teenagers were shot, one fatally, on the city’s South Side.

Chicago police say the teens were on a sidewalk in the 9700 block of South Peoria Street when someone started shooting from a nearby SUV around 11 p.m. Wednesday.

The 18-year-old was shot in the chest and stomach, and the 16-year-old was shot in the groin.

The 18-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The 16-year-old was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center and is in stable condition.

The names of the victims have not been released.

No one is in custody.
