Iran’s parliament voted Tuesday morning to accept the controversial agreement over its nuclear program.

Passage sends the deal to Iran’s Guardian Council, a panel of elder Muslim clerics, for final approval; there is no timetable for a final vote.

Critics of the deal say it removes international sanctions against Iran without sufficient oversight to prevent Iran from building nuclear weapons.
