MCHENRY, Ill. — A tentative contract has been reached in McHenry High School District 156, which could end the teachers strike.

The Northwest Herald reports the agreement came at 1:30 Saturday morning, after six hours of negotiations.

Students have missed seven days of school, because of the strike. And, this weekend’s homecoming festivities were postponed.

Details about the deal have not been released. Both sides were at odds over pay and insurance contributions.

The union will vote on the agreement Monday.  It’s Columbus Day, so there’s no school.

If the deal is approved, classes will resume on Tuesday.
