CHICAGO— A man is in custody after leading Chicago police on a high-speed chase on the West Side Tuesday afternoon.

The chase ended in the 200 block of North Central Ave around 5:45 pm.

According to witnesses, at some point during the pursuit, police were chasing the driver who was behind the wheel of a newer black jeep Cherokee and traveling northbound.  A few short minutes later, witnesses say the same thing but the vehicle was heading in the opposite direction.

Police eventually blocked in the vehicle.  The suspect then jumped out and started running down the alley where he was soon apprehended.

A source tells WGN the man is believed to be connected to an August homicide.
