CHICAGO — Christmas is less than three months away and JCPenney announced today it will be among the retailers hiring more workers for the holiday season.

The company says it will hire 650 seasonal workers in the Chicago area for positions including cashier, replenishment specialist, merchandise support specialist and more.

This follows the national trend from stores such as Macy’s, who plans to hire about 85,000 seasonal workers.  Kohl’s says it expects to hire more than 69,000 workers, up from 67,000 last year. Toys R Us plans to hire 40,000 people.
