CHICAGO -- Police are searching for a suspect who stole nearly $3500 worth of art from a street fair on Chicago’s North Side this weekend.

28-year-old Lydia Cash was selling her work at the Edgewater Art Fair over the weekend.

Between Saturday night and Sunday morning someone stole several large pieces from her booth.

“I showed up Sunday morning to a nearly empty tent,” she said.

Lydia says she and other artist usually leave their work over night as long as its guarded.

The art fair says it hired two off duty police officers to watch over the artist booths between Saturday and Sunday but that did not deter the thief or thieves.

“It’s such a deep part of who you are,” Lydia said.  “It is a very violating to who you are.”

Police are investigating, including looking into possible security footage from a nearby CTA stop.
