Bears announce trade of Jared Allen to Panthers:

LAKE FOREST, IL — The Chicago Bears acquired an undisclosed draft pick via trade with the Carolina Panthers for LB Jared Allen pending a physical.

“We had some depth at the linebacker position and were able to reach an agreement with the Panthers to bring a 2016 draft pick to our team in exchange for Jared Allen,” Bears General Manager Ryan Pace said. “Whether it is acquiring additional picks or signing players, we will continue to be aggressive in finding ways to improve our football team.
“We appreciate Jared’s contributions and wish him the best in Carolina.”

Allen has appeared in 175 games during his 12-year NFL career, recording 629 tackles, 134 sacks, six interceptions, 56 pass break ups, 31 forced fumbles and 19 fumble recoveries. He had seven tackles and one interception for the Bears this season.
