10 injured after multi-vehicle crash on I-57 on Far South Side

CHICAGO -- Ten people were hurt in a multiple-vehicle pileup on Interstate 57 on the city's Far South Side.

It happened around 2:30 a.m. Monday in the northbound lanes of I-57 near 119th.

Police say an SUV rolled over, then a pick-up truck landed on top of it.

A passing ambulance stopped to help and was rear-ended by another vehicle.

Seven people were taken in serious condition to Christ Medical Center.

One person refused treatment at the scene

Two others were injured in a two-car crash in the southbound lanes after drivers stopped to look at the pile-up.
